Aniversarios Fotografía (CXXI) [Abril / April 25-30]

El 25 de Abril es el cumple de

Paul Hansen, periodista gráfico sueco nacido en 1964, que trabaja para el periódico Dagens Nyheter.
En 2013 ganó el World Press Photo por la fotografía de la procesión funeraria que lleva los cuerpos de dos niños palestinos y su padre de la familia Hijazi muertos durante un ataque aéreo sionista sobre su casa. La imagen fue tomada el 20 de noviembre en la ciudad de Gaza.

El 26 de Abril es el cumple de

Werner Bischof, fotógrafo y reportero gráfico suizo nacido en 1916. Su libro Japón (1954) fue galardonado con el Premio Nadar en 1955.
Cuando tenía seis años, la familia se trasladó a Waldshut, Alemania, donde posteriormente fue a la escuela. En 1932, después de haber abandonado los estudios para convertirse en maestro, se inscribió en la Escuela de Artes en Zürich, donde se graduó con honores en 1936.
A partir de 1939 trabajó como fotógrafo independiente para varias revistas. Viajó extensamente 1945-1949 a través de casi todos los países europeos. Sus trabajos sobre la devastación en la Europa de la posguerra lo establecieron como uno de los más destacados fotógrafos de su época.
Se asoció a Magnum Photos en 1948 y se convirtió en miembro de pleno derecho en 1949. Fue el primer fotógrafo en unirse a los miembros fundadores.
El foco de gran parte de la fotografía humanista de posguerra de Bischof estaba en mostrar la pobreza y la desesperación a su alrededor en Europa, matizado por su deseo de viajar por el mundo, transmitiendo la belleza de la naturaleza y la humanidad.
En 1951 se fue a la India como fotógrafo independiente para LIFE, y a continuación a Japón y Corea. Trabajó como reportero de guerra en Vietnam para Paris Match. En 1954 viajó por México y Panamá, antes de volar a Perú, donde se embarcó en un viaje a través de los Andes hasta el Amazonas el 14 de mayo. El 16 de mayo su coche cayó por un precipicio en una carretera de montaña en los Andes, y los tres pasajeros murieron.

El 27 de Abril es el cumple de

Peter Keetman, fotógrafo alemán nacido en 1913. Fue uno de los principales representantes de la fotografía subjetiva (Subjektive Fotografie) y miembro del grupo Fotoform que ejerció gran influencia durante la postguerra de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Aprendió fotografía siendo muy joven, ya que su padre era un gran aficionado. Con dieciocho años decidió estudiar en la Escuela de fotografía del Estado de Baviera (Múnich) y con veintiuno aprobó el examen de aprendiz. A continuación comenzó a trabajar en Duisburgo con el fotógrafo Gertrud Hesse durante dos años y poco después se dedicó a la fotografía industrial, trabajando para la empresa C.H. Schmeck en Aquisgrán.

Durante la segunda guerra mundial fue herido gravemente y no pudo trabajar. A pesar de todo decidió continuar estudiando para maestro en la escuela de fotografía de Múnich y después con el fotógrafo Adolf Lazi en Stuttgart.
En 1949 se convierte en miembro fundador de Fotoform junto a Otto Steinert, Siegfried Lauterwasser y Toni Schneiders entre otros, siendo uno de sus miembros más activos. En 1950 expuso en la primera Photokina. Murió en 2005.

Werner Mantz, fotógrafo alemán nacido en 1901, adscrito a la Nueva Objetividad.
Estudió en la Escuela de fotografía del Estado de Baviera de Múnich, abriendo en 1921 un estudio en Colonia dedicado al retrato y la fotografía publicitaria. Más tarde se especializó en fotografía de arquitectura, ilustrando las principales construcciones del racionalismo. Tuvo que huir de su país a causa del nazismo, estableciéndose en los Países Bajos, donde entre 1937 y 1938 retrató de forma magistral el mundo de los mineros en Maastricht. Desde 1968 se dedicó a la fotografía de niños.
Murió en 1983.

Jens Assur, fotógrafo, director, guionista y productor de cine sueco nacido en 1970.
Su película "Matando a los pollos, para asustar a los monos", se estrenó en el Festival de Cannes en 2011 y desde entonces ha ganado varios premios prestigiosos.
En el Festival de Cine de Sundance en 2012, Jens Assur recibió el premio International Filmmakers Sundance / NHK por sus películas, "El último perro en Ruanda", y "Matando a los pollos, para asustar a los monos", y por el guión de su primer largometraje "Close Far Away". Creado en 1996 para celebrar los 100 años del cine, el premio anual reconoce y da apoyo a un cineasta visionario para su próxima película.
Jens Assur comenzó su carrera en Dagbladet, en Sundsvall, como reportero y fotógrafo (1986-1990). En 1990-1997 fue contratado como fotógrafo del equipo de Expressen, un diario en Escandinavia. Is one of the largest such project in Scandinavian history. It comprises two books of 256 pages each and a travelling exhibition with 70 photographic images blown up to 1.5 x 2 meters. The exhibition attracted a record attendance of 80,000 at its opening at Arbetets museum in Norrköping.

Taylor Deupree, músico electrónico, fotógrafo y diseñador gráfico estadounidense nacido en 1971. Es conocido por la fundación del sello musical 12k, junto con su trabajo como miembro de Prototype 909, y sus colaboraciones con Savvas Ysatis y Christopher Willits. En 2008 fue el presidente de Honor de los Quintos Premios de la Música Electrónica Qwartz en París (Francia).
Su proyecto en solitario, Human Mesh Dance, que se inició en 1993 y finalizó en 1997 fue un proyecto ambiental en fuerte contraste con el sonido tecno más "mainstream" de Prototype 909. Lanzó tres álbumes como Human Mesh Dance, junto con apariciones en numerosas compilaciones de música ambient.
En 1993, se asoció con Deupree Savvas Ysatis, un artista electrónico griego, para crear varios proyectos, cada uno con diferentes sonidos. On April 25 is the birthday of

Paul Hansen, Swedish journalistic photographer born in 1964, working for the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
In 2013 he won the World Press Photo for photograph of the funeral procession carrying the bodies of two Palestinian children and their father of the Hijazi family killed during an Israeli air attack on their home. The picture was shot on November 20 in Gaza City.

On April 26 is the birthday of

Werner Bischof, Swiss photographer and photojournalist born in 1916. His book Japan (1954) was awarded the Prix Nadar in 1955. 
When he was six years old, the family moved to Waldshut, Germany, where he subsequently went to school. In 1932, having abandoned studies to become a teacher, he enrolled at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zürich, where he graduated cum laude in 1936.
From 1939 on, he worked as an independent photographer for various magazines. He travelled extensively from 1945 to 1949 through nearly all European countries. His works on the devastation in post-war Europe established him as one of the foremost photojournalists of his time.
He was associated into Magnum Photos in 1948 and became a full member in 1949. He was the first new photographer to join its original founders.
The focus of much of Bischof's post-war humanist photography was showing the poverty and despair around him in Europe, tempered with his desire to travel the world, conveying the beauty of nature and humanity.
In 1951, he went to India, freelancing for Life, and then to Japan and Korea. For Paris Match he worked as a war reporter in Vietnam. In 1954, he travelled through Mexico and Panama, before flying to Peru, where he embarked on a trip through the Andes to the Amazonas on 14 May. On 16 May his car fell off a cliff on a mountain road in the Andes, and all three passengers were killed.

On April 27 is the birthday of

Peter Keetman, German photographer born in 1913. He was one of the main representatives of Subjective Photography (Subjektive Fotografie) and a member of the group Fotoform, with great influence during the postwar period of the Second World War.
Learned photography when he was very young thanks to his father that was a big fan. At eighteen he decided to study photography at the School of the State of Bavaria (Munich) and at 21 he approved the apprentice exam. Then started working in Duisburg with the photographer Gertrud Hesse for two years and shortly thereafter was devoted to industrial photography, working for the company CH Schmeck in Aachen. During World War II he was badly injured and could not work.
Despite all decided to continue studying to be professor at the Photography school in Munich, and after that with the photographer Adolf Lazi in Stuttgart.
In 1949 he became a founding member of Fotoform along with Otto Steinert, Siegfried Lauterwasser and Toni Schneiders, among others. He was one of its most active members. In 1950 he exhibited at the first Photokina. He died in 2005.

On April 28 is the birthday of

Werner Mantz, German photographer born in 1901, assigned to the New Objectivity.
He studied photography at the School of the State of Bavaria in Munich. In 1921 he opened a studio in Cologne devoted to portraiture and advertising photography. Later he specialized in architectural photography, illustrating the main buildings of Rationalism. He had to flee their country because of Nazism, established in the Netherlands, where between 1937 and 1938 portrayed masterfully the world of miners in Maastricht. Since 1968 he devoted himself to photography of children.
He died in 1983.

On April 29 is the birthday of

Jens Assur, Swedish photographer, director, scriptwriter, and film producer born in 1970.
His movie, Killing the Chickens, to Scare the Monkeys, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and has since won a number of prestigious prices.
At the Sundance Film Festival in 2012, Jens Assur was given the Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Award for his movies, The Last Dog in Rwanda, and Killing the Chickens, to Scare the Monkeys, and for the script for his first feature film Close Far Away. Created in 1996 to celebrate 100 years of cinema, the annual award recognizes and supports a visionary filmmaker on his or her next film.
Jens Assur started his career at Dagbladet in Sundsvall, as a reporter and photographer, 1986-1990. In 1990-1997 he was employed as a staff photographer at Expressen, a daily newspaper in Scandinavia. He produced several photo essays from Somalia, Rwanda, South Africa and former Yugoslavia amongst other countries earning a Photographer of the year at the age of 23. In 1997 Assur left Expressen to start his company Studio Jens Assur and worked on art and film projects.
During the 1990:s Jens Assur was devoted to depict developing countries, but in recent years he has switched focus to the industrialized parts of the world. Examples of these are his works This is My Time, This is My Life, Hunger and Thailand – A Charter Paradise.
In addition to his art and film projects, Jens Assur holds lectures and is featured on news programmes, television shows and in magazines.

Yesterday, April 30, was the birthday of

Taylor Deupree, American electronic musician, photographer and graphic designer born in 1971. He is most known for the founding of the 12k record label, along with his work as a member of Prototype 909, and his collaborations with Savvas Ysatis and Christopher Willits. In 2008, Taylor Deupree was the Président d'Honneur of the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards 5th in Paris (France).
Deupree's solo project, Human Mesh Dance, which was begun in 1993 and ended in 1997 was an ambient project that was a strong contrast to Prototype 909's more mainstream techno sound. He released three albums as Human Mesh Dance, along with appearances on numerous ambient compilations.
Work with Savvas Ysatis.
In 1993, Deupree teamed up with Savvas Ysatis, a Greek electronic artist, to create several different projects, each with different sounds. Seti produced ambient electronica, with sounds and words from the various SETI projects from around the world. Futique was the duo's trip hop project, and its Detroit techno output was released under the Arc moniker.
Deupree founded 12k on January 1, 1997, based on the name of the first Arc album, 12k.
He's also a very good photographer of landscapes and environments, as you can see in his website.
