Sus principales obras son "Hot Light/Half-Made Worlds (1986)", "Under a Grudging Sun" (1989) "From The Sunshine State" (1996), "Amazon" (1997) "Crossings" (2003), "Istanbul" (2007) and "The Suffering of Light" (2011).

La Visita / The Visit: "Marilyn Monroe", Nueva York, Dic., 1961 / NY, December, 1961

La Visita / The Visit: "Marilyn Monroe & Carl Sandburg", Nueva York, Dic., 1961 / NYDecember, 1961

Marilyn was three hours late, but had an excuse. She had been at the hairdresser, trying to get her hair color to match Carl’s.
So began a remarkable meeting of two genuine American icons. One, a three-time Pulitzer Prize winning author and poet. The other later named “the sexiest woman of the 20th Century” by Playboy magazine. Carl Sandburg was 83. Marilyn Monroe was 35. That afternoon, as the hours passed (and the alcohol flowed), the bonds of this unique friendship were being formed, but would end tragically just eight months later, with Monroe’s death.

On May 4 is the birthday of

Réhahn Croquevielle, French photographer born in Normandy in 1979, based in Hoi An, Vietnam, since 2011.
Led by his love of travel and to meet people, he visited more than 35 countries before settling in the ancient town of Hoi An.
He's particularly known for his portraits of Vietnam, Cuba and India. The media regularly refer to it as the photographer who captures the soul of his models. In fact, Réhahn spends time with people to know and build a relationship with them before taking their photographs. Specializing in ethnic groups in Vietnam, crosses the borders of this country on his motorbike in order to capture the last images of these dying cultures.

On May 5 is the birthday of

Alex Webb, American photographer born in 1952 in San Francisco, associated with Magnum Photos.
Webb first became interested in photography as a high school student and in 1972 attended the Apeiron Workshops in Millerton, New York, where he met Magnum photographers Bruce Davidson and Charles Harbutt. He went on to study history and literature at Harvard University (graduating in 1974), but also studied photography at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. By 1974 he was working as a photojournalist and in 1976 he became an associate member of Magnum Photos. During this time he documented small-town life in the American South. He also did some work in the Caribbean and Mexico, which led him, in 1978, to begin working in color, which he has continued to do.
Webb's work has been exhibited around the world
He has had a number of books published, his main works being Hot Light/Half-Made Worlds (1986), Under a Grudging Sun (1989) From The Sunshine State (1996), Amazon (1997) Crossings (2003), Istanbul (2007) and The Suffering of Light (2011). With Rebecca Norris Webb he has also published Violet Isle (2009) and Memory City (2014).
He has contributed to Geo, Time and The New York Times Magazine.

On May 6 is the birthday of

Len Steckler, American photographer, painter, film director, cinematographer and producer.
Steckler is known for the artistry behind many famous ad campaigns, including Pepsi Cola’s “Refreshes Without Filling” illustrated advertisements in the 1950s. In 2010, he received widespread attention for the release of a previously unknown series of photographs entitled, “Marilyn Monroe: The Visit,” which offer a candid glimpse of a 1961 encounter between Monroe and famed poet Carl Sandburg.
Steckler began his artistic career with the brush. The youngest member of New York's Society of Illustrators, he painted illustrations for short and serialized stories that appeared in leading magazines of the day. As photography gradually replaced illustration, however, Steckler segued to a full-time career as a photographer.

* Len Steckler died on August 11th, 2016

On May 7 is the birthday of

Joseph (Joe) Roger O'Donnell, American documentarian, photojournalist and a photographer for the United States Information Agency.
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1922 his most famous work was documenting photographically the immediate aftermath of the atomic bomb explosions at Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan, in 1945 and 1946 as a Marine photographer.
A controversy followed the printing of his obituary in the press. Some of the photographs that had been attributed to O'Donnell were actually shot by other photographers. A photograph of a saluting John F. Kennedy Jr. during the funeral for his father in 1963 was taken by Stan Stearns for United Press International, not by O'Donnell. O'Donnell also claimed credit for a photograph showing Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill during a wartime meeting in Tehran, Iran, in 1943, but O'Donnell is not known to have been in Tehran at the time.
O'Donnell's son Tyge O'Donnell attributes some of the instances of his father's taking credit for others' work to the onset of dementia in the 1990s.
He died in 2007.

Today, May 8, is the birthday of

Robert Adams, American photographer born in 1937, who has focused on the changing landscape of the American West. His work first came to prominence in the mid-1970s through the book The New West (1974) and the exhibition New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape (1975). He twice received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a MacArthur Fellowship and won the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize and Hasselblad Award.
During his childhood, Adams often accompanied his father on walks and hikes through the woods on Sunday afternoons. He also enjoyed playing baseball in open fields and working with his father on carpentry projects. He was an active Boy Scout, and was also active with the Methodist church that his family attended.
In 1962 Adams began teaching English at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. In 1963, Adams bought a 35 mm reflex camera and began to take pictures mostly of nature and architecture.
He learned photographic technique from Myron Wood, a professional photographer who lived in Colorado. While finishing his dissertation, he began to photograph in 1964. In 1966, he began to teach only part-time in order to have more time to photograph. He met John Szarkowski, then curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art, on a trip to New York City in 1969. The museum later bought four of his prints. In 1970, he began working as a full-time photographer.
